I saw the Yahoo article today about your blog GOOP and a mention of the following comment you made in Elle UK:
"F--k the haters! I saw this blog of people writing horrible things about me and for a second your ego is so wounded. How could people hate me, my intentions or what I'm trying to do? I'm a good person and I'm trying to put good things into the world."
I won't go into why people apparently hate you. Suffice it to say, you make way more money than most of them do. And you appear to be a natural blonde. It's an inevitable conflict.
It is true that I subscribe to your blog and, quite frankly, I appreciate your attempt at transparency {my husband thinks that someone else writes your blog but, no worries, I've tuned him out}. Do I expect to be able to afford your recommended hotel rooms or take enough time away from my job, family and house renovations to handle your workout routine? Nah. But I do eat weekly family meals involving spaghetti & meatballs and so I think you should keep on keeping on.**
And here's the thing. If you started GOOP to build a following and sell the GOOP brand to a third party for oodles of money? You go. If GOOP is the beginning of a Gwyneth Paltrow branded-lifestyle television show or product line, well that's great. And, hey, if you used the Elle UK magazine article to build controversy around your brand...thereby driving people to your brand...even better.
Because I support you and your take-over-the-world endeavors. In any form. Whenever a female is successful {yes, this even includes chicks like Britney Spears}, it makes a better world for other females. It provides us with more opportunities. And isn't making this place a better world what really matters? Some of us do it on a small level with our families and friends. You've just chosen a larger forum.
Perhaps a GOOP edition focusing on Gloria Steinem and other individuals with empowering messages {both pro-male, pro-female, pro-people, etc.} would be an understated and classy way of getting this point across.
Best of luck kiddo,
Devon***
p.s. For all of you Gwyneth Paltrow haters, take your nasty comments elsewhere. I'm all about positive on this blog and I have comment editing privileges.
**To those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, clearly you need to get the scoop on GOOP.
***Disclaimer: I do not know Gwyneth Paltrow and am not being paid to post this open letter on her behalf. Although, wouldn't that be cool if I were being paid? Now that, my friends, would be one heck of a marketing tactic.

YOU go Devon. This is the first positive post I think I've ever read about GOOP. You're probably right, she's using it as a launch pad for a lifestyle brand. I think the blogosphere is ticked off because she's basically entering into their (our) territory. There have been some nasty nasty things written, and I for one am glad you gave it a positive spin. Go on with your bad (good) self.
hahaha I've never heard that she had a blog! I'll have to go check out GOOP now.
ps- I'm surprised to hear negative things beng said about her/ it bc she always seems to be so gracious/ nice.. hmm???? i guess i just g=have to so see for myself!
I used to be not such a fan of Gwyneth. Then I tuned into Spain on the Road Again - and I like her very much. She seems down to earth, and not at all precious. And she's funny (and makes fun of herself!), is interested in food, art, culture, speaks Spanish, likes her food and loves her kids. So now I'm sold.
I like GOOP. It's good for procrastination and the recipes sound yummy. People who hate on her for GOOP clearly don't have enough to do with their time.
Great post!
